The dark dust lane and a hint of structure.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-869 alignnone\" comet\u00a0C\/2015 ER61 PANSTARRS.<br \/>\nThe colour image wasn&#8217;t that good, but making it mono and inverting the image shows quite a long dust tail, going off the the right hand side of the image .<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-868\" over to visit an old favourite, The Pleiades Star Cluster.<br \/>\nThe initial image looked good, but while I was processing this, more subs were being taken.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" improved with the extra data.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-865\" stuff, I thought I&#8217;d try the core of M31.<br \/>\nThe galaxy was almost overhead, so the auto-guiding was struggling.<br \/>\nI gave up, but got 4 subs to make an image.<br \/>\nSome dust lanes can be clearly seen, so I moved on to a fainter Messier object.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-863\" supernova remnant, the Crab Nebula.<br \/>\nThis is the remains of a star that was observed by Chinese astronomers to go supernova in 1054.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-867\" src=\"http:\/\/www.star-gazing.co.uk\/WebPage\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/CrabNebula-20171116Web.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"680\" height=\"455\" adventure down south into Orion.<br \/>\nM78 was my first target.<br \/>\nA challenge in the light pollution, but the lack of stars visible due to the presence of dark obscuring dust shows quite Nebula and Flaming nebula close to the left hand belt star Alnitak.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-864\" https:\/\/www.star-gazing.co.uk\/WebPage\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/HorseheadNebulaFlatWeb.jpg 700w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 414px) 100vw, 414px\" \/><br \/>\nA visit to Orion must involve a look at M42, the great Orion Nebula.<br \/>\nThe colour didn&#8217;t look too good, but the image itself contained a lot of detail.<br \/>\nSo I overlaid the image taken tonight as a luminosity layer on top of a much more grainy image that captured the colour much better.<br \/>\nThe result was finally very pleasing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-860 northern Orion was NGC 2174, The Monkey Head Nebula.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-870\" getting cold and tired.
