Workshops

My hands-on astronomy workshops have so far been extremely popular, as well as very rewarding to do. The feedback I have had has been extremely encouraging, helping people to develop their astrophotography skills.

With a lot of theory packed in all the workshops have a lot of hands-on content which aids the learning process and makes for an enjoyable day.
All workshops are limited to 15 delegates so that I have as much time as needed to help everyone who attends.

All Workshops cost £30:00 for a whole day.

BEGINNING ASTRONOMY
17TH FEBUARY 2018
CHELVESTON VILLAGE HALL, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE
This workshop is aimed primarily at someone starting out in astronomy.
Got a new telescope for Christmas? Feeling a bit daunted by it and don’t know what to point it at?
Bring it along to this hands-on workshop to learn about our fantastic hobby.
I’ll show you how to find your way a round the sky and what to look at.
I’ll also show you how to set your telescope up and the different accessories available to go with it, what they do, why you might need them (or not!) and how they are used.
We’ll look at sources of information and advice, so you can develop your interest even further.
You will then be able to get the very best out of your telescope and the hobby.

Cost is £30 for a full day of tuition and hands-on the telescope.

Space limited to 15 delegates so I can give as much attention as possible to each person.

A repeat of my very successful first workshop.
This gives a general overview of the theory of astrophotography.

We will also look at lunar and webcam imaging.
This will include the theory and practise of taking images, and the software used to process them.
There will be plenty of time for lots of hands-on practice on images, either using images I will supply, or more preferably, your own..

SOLAR OBSERVING AND IMAGING
9th June 2018

HIGHAM FERRERS HOPE METHODIST CHURCH, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE
Our nearest star is an absolutely fascinating object, constantly changing and often takes us by surprise
when a nice eruption occurs.
The day will cover the equipment and techniques used for white-light and narrow band imaging of our nearest star.
We will then go through the process of taking images and then all hands-on using the various pieces of software used to get the very best out of them.
These include Sharpcap, AutoStakkert!, Registax and Photoshop (although other image processing packages can be used).

All software and images will be supplied on the day, but the day is even more rewarding
if you can bring you own images to work on.
Please note: All software runs on a Windows PC, so will not run on an Apple.

Cost is £30 for a full day of tuition and hands-on practice.

Space is limited to 15 delegates so I can give as much attention as possible to each person.
